comparison of some common bean (phaseolus vulgaris l.) genotypes for drought tolerance

چکیده
drought stress, especially drought at terminal stages, plays an important role in reduction of yield in field crops such as common beans. 50 genotypes of common bean including 3 control genotypes (dehghan, bahman and naz) were used to evaluate and identify the tolerant genotypes. this experiment were performed in a randomized complete block design (rcbd) with three replications under two conditions (stress and non-stress) using stress indices. mp, gmp, harm and sti indices were introduced as the best indices for screening genotypes because of their high correlation with yield under stress and non-stress conditions. based on the results of principal components analysis, the first component, which explained 65.96 percent of data variations, was considered as a component of yield stability and drought tolerance, and the second component, which explained 31.53 percent of the data variation, introduced as component of sensitivity to stress. based on a biplot analysis, genotypes 1, 16, 18 and 49 were introduced as tolerant genotypes with high yield potential. cluster analysis based on mp, gmp, harm and sti indices and yield under stress and non-stress were classified genotypes in four clusters. drought tolerant genotypes were located in the first cluster and the most drought-sensitive genotypes with the largest gap were located in the fourth cluster.

متن کاملBiplot Analysis for Evaluation of Tolerance in Some Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Genotypes to Bean Common Mosaic Virus (BCMV)
The common bean is the most important grain legume for direct human consumption in the world and BCMV is one of the world's most serious bean diseases that can reduce yield and quality of harvested product. To determine the best tolerance index to BCMV and recognize tolerant genotypes, 2 experiments were conducted in field conditions. Twenty five common bean genotypes were sown in 2 separate RC...
متن کاملGenotypes of the Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Lacking the Nodule-Enhanced Isoform of Glutamine Synthetase.
Glutamine synthetase (GS) is an octameric enzyme. The nodule cytosol of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) has two major types of GS subunit polypeptides ([beta] and [gamma]). As a result, nine different isozymes containing varied proportions of [beta] and [gamma] can be generated. The isozymes are resolvable by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Staining the gel for GS activity re...
متن کاملOn the Origin of the Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Phylogeographic methods provide the tools to accurately access the geographic origin and diversification of crop species. In the present commentary, I urge the common bean community to face those methods and a tree-thinking mentality with regards to the long standing debate of the origin of common bean. Such efforts will ultimately bring back interest into wild bean studies and reinforce the un...
